Mission

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8

In His Steps

In His Steps Ministries is a Christian non-profit ministry that reaches out to the unchurched people of Canton and the surrounding counties in central Mississippi.  Founded in 1994, IHS ministers to juveniles being held in detention centers in the area through Bible studies and one-on-one mentoring.  It also runs an after-school program that seeks to promote healthy, successful behaviors and build strong communities.

Holy Trinity has been involved with IHS for several years.  Several of our church members are actively involved with IHS through its tutoring program.  Once a month, we cook breakfast for their Saturday Morning Academy, which focuses on improving the science knowledge of the young people who attend.  For the past three summers Holy Trinity has joined with a group of volunteers from Massachusetts in helping run a Bible camp for one week; we also have helped with some construction projects for low-income families.

"Helping In His Steps put on their Bible camp has been a great experience.  It has been good to partner with groups who have built relationships with the people in this neighborhood in Canton.  It has been so good to get to know the kids and see them grow each year.  There are also a good number of teenage boys that attend.  They are so focused on hearing about Jesus and the Christian life."  -Joanna

Young Life

Young Life doesn’t start with a program. It starts with adults concerned enough about kids to go to them, on their turf and in their culture, building bridges of authentic friendship. These relationships don’t happen overnight — they take time, patience, trust and consistency.

So Young Life leaders log many hours with kids around the world — where they are, as they are. We listen to their stories and learn what’s important to them because we genuinely care about their joys, triumphs, heartaches and setbacks.

We believe in the power of presence. Kids’ lives are dramatically impacted when caring adults come alongside them, sharing God’s love with them. Because their leader believes in them, they begin to see that their lives have great worth, meaning and purpose.

This is the first step of a lifelong journey; the choices they make today, based upon God’s love for them, will impact future decisions … careers chosen, marriages formed and families raised. All ripples from the time when a Young Life leader reached out and entered their world.

Sister to Sister Parish: Kacyiru Parish

Two Continents, Two Cultures, One Mission! Archbishop Kolini's vision for intentional partnership began to take life in 2004 with the initiation of the Sister-to-Sister Partnerships. The program fosters cross-cultural relationships and ministry alliances between Anglican Mission churches and Rwandan parishes.

In keeping with Archbishop Kolini’s vision Holy Trinity enjoys a vibrant relationship with the Kacyiru Parish in Rwanda.  This is a growing parish with a wide-ranging ministry including 5 choirs, a thriving ministry to children and over 700 in worship each week.

This partnership has seen members of Holy Trinity travel to Rwanda to serve alongside our brothers and sisters, as well as having Fr. Ntazinda visit us here in Jackson.  Fr. Ntazinda during his visit helped us understand the power of the Gospel in new and fresh ways as he told of what God is doing in Rwanda.  He also was able to teach a class at Belhaven University.

We look forward to what God will do as we partner together for mission here in Jackson, Kigali and to the ends of the Earth.
